1,000 new iPhone APIs, but nothing for calendaring

Apple will publish 1,000 new APIs for the iPhone, but calendaring won't be one of them. Fabrizio Capobianco is outraged. I'll add my outrage. If Apple were to publish this API, we would get better calendaring options on the iPhone.

It supports CalDAV. What else could we wish for? Do you need an email API? No, you just use IMAP4.

I agree with Scott that getting access to the calendar beyond CalDAV and IMAP4 on the iPhone is important. People schedule on their iPhone before they have a chance to sync, and an iPhone app should be able to access these appointments directly.
