SyncMyCal works better than GooSync

This morning I have a new favorite: SyncMyCal. Thanks to whoever commented here and clued me in.

SyncMyCal does everything GooSync does and more. It lets me not sync private events. Instead they show up as "busy" on my Google Calendar. This is a good step forward. SyncMyCal is awarded +2 SwampDrain points of their own.

The only reason you'd want to still use GooSync is if you don't like to sync Outlook to Google Calendar; GooSync (and OggSync) sync directly from Windows Mobile to Google. A Windows Mobile version of SyncMyCal is in development.

Hi Scott,

We are glad that you liked it. We are as of now in the process of making SyncMyCal better than ever. You can head to our blog (syncmycal.blogspot.com) for a peak into what we are doing.

Also, if you find anything that doesn't work, drop us an email and our technical guys will be all over it.

Cheers.

Hi Scott,

We updated www.goosync.com yesterday to include multi calendar and private item support.

We're on a roll now, lots of goodies on the way.

Call me when Mobile syncing is available...that way I can get rid of Outlook, and only use my PDA (Windows Mobile 2003 SE) and Google on my Domain for email and calendars.

I am looking to create a collaboration platform for one of my social group. I am in need of shared calendars. Can anyone suggest a good solution. I am putting down my desired list of features
-> a new domain name that I own
-> ability to write custom pages, scripts and backend. (google for domains doesn't allow php or even your own html it seems)
-> calendar based collaboration - each one can see a common group calendar for events.
-> each person has her own calendar.
-> Preferably subscription based access to the site - with a possibility to join with personal email, or an email@my new domain.
-> Calendar sync to Windows Mobile - without outlook being the intermediate. Since I have WLAN on my Windows Mobile 2003, why can't I open an URL in the IE to get my calendar updated? (this point is more relevant to this blog).
-> each person should have her own blog, however, all data should reside on my server (or hosting account). Access may be public (available on the internet) or only to the people signed in.
->It should be easy to share and embed video in blogs and posts. Though it can be done via youtube,I want the access control to be driven by my site.

Calendaring is one of the most important aspects of it. Is Windows office live hosting a good option?

regards

Thanks for the info - I was using remotecalendars before but it was unstable. SyncMyCal works great for now for the desktop.

I am going to run a smartphone soon and look forward to a mobile version with outlook-smartphone-gcal sync, in any order and no problem supporting timezones, repeating events and daylight saving times..

we use a collaboration solution that answers some of anant's needs. it is called http://www.hyperoffice.com -> a new domain name that I own

-> ability to write custom pages, scripts and backend. (google for domains doesn't allow php or even your own html it seems)- YES

-> calendar based collaboration - each one can see a common group calendar for events.- YES

-> each person has her own calendar. - YES

-> Preferably subscription based access to the site - with a possibility to join with personal email, or an email@my new domain. - YES

-> Calendar sync to Windows Mobile - without outlook being the intermediate. Since I have WLAN on my Windows Mobile 2003, why can't I open an URL in the IE to get my calendar updated? (this point is more relevant to this blog).- their interface is optimized for access on mobile devices. so you can access your calendar using your mobile browser.

-> each person should have her own blog, however, all data should reside on my server (or hosting account). Access may be public (available on the internet) or only to the people signed in.- NO

->It should be easy to share and embed video in blogs and posts. Though it can be done via youtube,I want the access control to be driven by my site. - NO

but to make up for not having some of the above they also have integrated document management, project management, forums, polls, IM, Oulook integration etc.
